A movie about two renowned psychologists Carl Jung and Sigmund Freud and the woman that came between them might coax you to watch A Dangerous Method online. From what I see in the numerous reviews from various film critics, the film has already been shown in the Venice Film Festival 2011. This might make it easier for people to just go and watch A Dangerous Method online.
Set in a period between the years of 1904 and 1913, the movie tackles the story of Carl Jung, a young psychoanalyst who idolizes the work of Sigmund Freud (although he is not very keen on the idea that the single hinge that makes a person’s mind work is the sexual drive). If you watch A Dangerous Method online, you would see that the Jung finally meets his mentor. Years after the meeting, they would be exchanging letters telling each other of their thoughts and experiences. Then Freud sends Jung a patient in the person of Otto Gross. Gross will be key in Jung’s realizing his sexual capacities. He is the one who told Jung that “you should never repress anything”.
A movie review revealed that if you watch A Dangerous Method online, you would see a young girl named Sabina Spielrein. This girl was suffering from intense seizures. Jung found her problem arising from her childhood wherein her father abused and humiliated her. Eventually she was cured and somehow seduced the loyal Mr. Jung into having an affair with her. Within this nine-year period, Jung fathered children with his wife Emma Jung but maintained his affair with Spielrein who eventually also became a psychoanalyst.
After you watch a Dangerous Method online, you would realize that the rift between the mentor (Freud) and the student (Jung) started when Jung married into money and started living a somewhat luxurious life. Another reason is the patient Spielrein. Freud did not want to tolerate Jung’s sexual relationship with the former patient. The above mentioned character of Mr. Gross did not help much when he suggested that Freud’s obsession with the power of sex roots from his lack of it.
If you would watch A Dangerous Method online, you will be awed by the scenery that is included in the film. The film did not fail to make the audience feel the air of that era. In the movie are: Viggo Mortensen who played the role of Sigmund Freud, keira Knightley as Sabina Spielrein, Michael Fassbender as Carl Jung, Vincent Cassel as Otto Gross and Sarah Gadon as Emma Jung.
Film critics have nothing but praise to the portrayal of all the characters. They described Keira Knightley as excellent in her most challenging role to date. Viggo Mortensen was also praised in his performance, a critic said that “Freud was wonderfully brought into life” by Mortensen. The same critic said that Fassbender “brilliantly conveyed Jung’s intelligence, urge to propriety and irresistible hunger to shed light in the mysteries of human interior”. A Dangerous Method will be released on November 23 in cinemas.
